Tufts Math Office Assistant

Starting fall 2023 I have worked at the front desk of the Tufts Math Department. In this roll I assist professors in editing documents, scanning exams, and organization. I also greet anyone who enters the math department and help anyone who needs assistance. I have gained experience in the Microsoft Workspace and organization.

Elementary School Math Tutor

In 2022-23 I tutored first and second graders in math thorugh the Tufts Litteracy Corps. I loved this job and always tried to find ways to explain math in ways that I would have understood it at their age. I went to a montessory school for first grade and learned math through hands on activities and I believe that is the reason I have such an interest in it now. I would ask the teachers for blocks or marbles to count using objects or I would ask the students what they like to do and would cater my lessons to their interests. The first girl that I tutores though this program was very interested in space. I love space as well and was so excited to teach her math by talking about space. We would count stars and add planets. I learned a lot working in this program and to be honest I probably needed a refresher on my multiplication tabels more than some of my kids did.

Summer Camp Assistant Teacher at Sayre School

In the summer of 2023 I assisted the lead teacher of a 6 year old class for a private schools' summer camp near my home. I loved this job but it was very challenging at times. Often times I was the sole caretaker of a room of 15 6 year olds and sometimes I had to substiture for the 2 or 3 year old rooms. I love taching kids and making lesson plans for the 6 year olds was so much fun and they were always down to learn new things. I believe my patience and leadership skills really grew this summer as I directed the class through an hour of quiet time when the younger kids were sleeping or when I was put in charge of one of the younger kids' rooms when it was nap time and there were two kids that wanted nothing more than to wake the other kids up. To navigate these situations I told the younder kids stories of dragons and magic while trying to get them to nap and made friendship bracelets and worked on a puzzle with the older kids trying to keep them from being too loud. This was a chaotic but fun and rewarding summer experience.

Magee's Bakery Front Staff

I worked as the front saff at family owned bakery down the street from my house from 2020-2022. I took orders, filled donut boxes, cleaned the cholocate machine, helped customers, busted tables, and pretty much any od job you could think. This was a fun high school job to have and I learned great people skills and how to multitask and grew my confidence in a fast paced, high stress work enviroment.
